 THE LONG ROAD

Long Road [R]

Another wonderful story, Eleanor! This was a great way to end the challenge Absent Friends. Thankful for Curry's persistence and seeing Clay at the livery. Loved the boys apologizing to each other. Lom's a good friend. (clapping hands)

Very good story with the boys in character. Glad Curry found Heyes in time and both realized their stubbornness nearly created a situation from which they couldn't recover.

Very much enjoyed this continuation. So very glad Kid found Heyes. Satisfying story. Thanks for sharing.

This was just so wonderful - believable, emotional and heartwarming! I was very happy with the shortened version of the story, but adding the ending turned it into another piece entirely, and I like this one just as well! Also, having Heyes nursed in a convent was an inspired idea, and having the Kid finally find him there after a long search was so fulfilling emotionally. Quite clever!  You're a wonderful author; thank you for this!

Thank you for the continuation of the challenge story, I enjoyed reading how Curry preserved in his quest to find Heyes and repair the damage he had caused to their partnership.

Thank you so much for continuing this story. The challenge story was so good on its own, the continuation just made it even better. Kid is one determined man, he just couldn't stop looking, glad he found him when he did, quite by chance. Amazing what love can do. What a difference a year makes, a year prior it is Lom calling for Kid to come inside for a drink to the new year, the next it is Heyes.

I enjoyed the original unfinished version of this story and have enjoyed this finished version just as much. Curry was right when he said bad things happened whenever they split up. Lucky he found Heyes before it was too late to set things straight between them. It was difficult to predict how it was going to end – happily or not. I’m glad it was happily. I could visualize everything as I read it and the emotions felt very in character. Thanks for sharing. Hope to read more from you.

This story should ring true to anyone who ever lost their temper in the heat of an argument. We would like to think when we forgive someone that's it. It's done and forgotten. Sadly in heated moments our memory becomes all too good. Dredging up things from our recent as well as past memories. When that moment is over the reality of our actions can be life changing. Curry was facing just that situation. Fortunately he came to his senses and started to seek out his only true friend. I wasn't sure he was going to find him in time. Your stories can go both ways which makes reading them all the more suspenseful. Really enjoyed this.
