Undoubtedly I've commented on this story before, as it's one of my favorites, but having recently re-read it, I am struck again by the lovely meshing of a simple but comprehensive story line with a believable presentation of raw human emotions. There's a lot in this story and I find more each time I read it. And, of course, always love the idea of them stranded in a cabin in the middle of nowhere. But something new this time - I'd forgotten how chilling an arrow attack can be!

FORCE OF WILL

Eleanor, I am so pleased you posted this. A great testament to the loyalty the boys feel for each other, and how determination can overcome what seems like insurmountable odds. Thanks for sharing it here! I really enjoyed it.

Good, very good!!

I confess I never have watched "Alias Smith & Jones” but your story charmed me... It was a very good job! Congratulations!

Eleanor, I bought Issue 32 specifically because I saw that you had written a story for it. I enjoyed this then, and again just now! It's lovely. Thanks!

An Eleanor story! What a coup! Always descriptive, always full of caring, always enjoyable. Particularly liked Heyes seeing his reflection in the mirror, which allowed us to see him as he saw himself.

Running across a great story you've read before is like finding an old friend; re-reading allows you the opportunity to temper your scant memory of the story with your recent experiences and emotions, thus producing a whole new enjoyable experience. I always like stories with attention to details, as well as your descriptions of their devotion to each other. And, just like the first time I read the story, I was again engaged with the idea of Heyes being startled by his gaunt appearance in the broken mirror, which works on several levels. Brava!

Gripping stuff! So glad they both survived. I was worried Heyes would save his friend at the expense of his own life.  Well done!

The boys really got beat up in this story. I was beginning to wonder if this was one of the stories where a major character died. I could see Heyes saving the Kid just to have the Kid wake up and find Heyes dead. It would have been interesting to get inside the Kids head to see how he processed that. Still I loved the tenacity Heyes had because he loved. Love, is the strongest force in humans. Both of the boys needed it to get through this trial and you portrayed that nicely.
